Setting Preferences for Flash Start page and Undo levels |
| |
You can get rid of "Starting Page" on launch by altering options in Preferences.
To Avoid Starting page on launch follow these steps:
- Go to Edit and choose Preferences. Ctrl+U is the keyboard shortcut for this.
- You wll be presented with Preferences window. Click on General Tab. At the bottom against "On launch" change the radio button check mark from "Show Start Page" to "New Document" or else any other option as per the requirement and click OK.
Next time when you launch you can see the changes taken place as per the preferences set.
But it is recommended that it is good to keep Start Page on launch from which we can access recent items (latest worked/opened files) and also create from template.
We are free to make as many mistakes as we wish with our designs and animations. There is no restrictions. You can undo and go back to our best previous state. But we need to have the Undo preference set to certain number as per our need.
Under General tab the first option is Undo levels. I always keep this number set at 1000. But this is upto you what number you prefer best suits your requirement. To check this option follow these steps:
- Set Undo levels at 5 and click ok.
- Open a new document.
- Select Line Tool
or Pencil Tool and draw 10 lines on stage by clicking and releasing mouse. Click and Release is counted as one action. By drawing 10 lines you have committed 10 actions. Now you can Undo the actions and go back to only 5 steps back since you set the Undo levels at 5.
- Press and hold Ctrl key and hit Z key ( Menu Edit >> Undo) continuesly to undo and go back to previous state. After 6 Hits you can't undo further (You can Redo by Ctrl+Y).
Make sure you keep Undo levels Preferences at desired levels before you start your new projects. You are at liberty to commit any number of mistakes and not to worry much if some thing goes wrong with design or animation. You can always undo your actions by choosing your preferences.
Preferences window is self explanatory.
With this tip you can also click and see the Tabs:
- Editng
- Clipboard
- Warning and
- ActionScript
Do not change any options until you are not sure what you are doing.
Finally...if you manipulated something and not sure what you did than always click "Cancel" button instead of "Ok" button. That will keep options to previous best state.
