 Animating Body Parts
 
The important aspect in animating body parts of any Character is planning. Just like a Storyboard for telling story with animation. Plan which part is to be animated. Convert all elements to be animated in to Graphic Symbols. Apply Motion Tweens. But Graphic Symbols with Motion tween applied will move only in straight paths hence some time we may need to go for frame by frame or guide animation as per the situation.

The Boy Character above is consisting of different parts animated only applying Motion Tweens. No Actionscript, Frame by Frame or Guide Motions. It is a loop playing again and again without stop action.

No skills required to create this. The only basic requirement to understand this tutorial is you need to familiar with these :

  • Drawing in Flash
  • Converting Graphics in to Symbols.
  • Creating Motion Tweens
Designing Body Parts:

Design all the 9 parts (graphics) on different layers. Here is finished layer's timeline.

Keep Hair and Face graphic parts on top of the stack. Set frame rate of the animation to 30 frames per second (or as per the requirement). Graphics shown below are according their layer position.
